Verruca treatment Hove

Verrucae are warts that occur on the soles of the feet or around the toe area. They are caused by a viral infection, which affects the outer layer of skin (epidermis). Verrucas are very common and affect about 10% of the population. Most people have tried some form of verruca treatment… but it hasn’t worked and they end up living with their verruca problem. The verruca virus can enter the skin if there is any break in the skin or if the skin is very moist, which explains why many people pick them up at swimming pools. Some verrucas can become painful and spread and are difficult to treat, persistent, and unsightly. Some can persevere for years, growing deeper and impacting more and more on daily activities.

A range of verruca treatments are available at Hove Foot Clinic in Brighton including Swift microwave therapy and Verrutop. Swift microwave therapy is a highly successful and scientifically proven treatment for verruca problems. Check out some of our verruca removals in Hove on our news page.

Swift uses microwaves to destroy the verruca tissue and does not require any local anaesthetic or significant dressings. Swift offers a significantly higher success rate than most other treatments available. Some patients with larger or long-term verrucae, or those that have pre-existing medical issues, may need more treatments. Further information can be found at https://treatwithswift.com/patient-info

Verrutop is quick and painless topical treatment for problem verrucas that denatures the viral protein and desiccates the wart tissue, which then falls off the skin, leaving intact skin underneath. Further information can be found at https://www.verrutop.co.uk/podiatry.html. Gentler verruca treatment options such as debridement where the overlying thick skin is removed with a scalpel, and silver nitrate are also available.
